We understand that many children and adolescents fear the "injection" more than the actual treatment. In most cases, we successfully use proven techniques such as ritualized behavioral guidance and hypnosis. However, there are situations where local anesthesia for primary and permanent teeth is necessary.
To ensure particularly gentle and pain-free anesthesia, we use the innovative digital anesthesia method known as the STA system (Single Tooth Anesthesia). This technique, developed in the USA, has proven to be an excellent alternative.
The STA system, also known as single-tooth anesthesia, uses a pen-shaped device with a very fine needle. Before the needle even touches the tissue, the mucous membrane is pre-numbed. As a result, the needle is no longer felt thanks to the preliminary anesthesia. The anesthetic is delivered precisely and in minimal dosage to the targeted area, and the numbing effect begins immediately.
With this method, only the specific area being treated is numbed—gently and for a limited duration. The typical numbness in the lips, cheeks, and tongue is avoided. Due to its fast onset and localized effect, this method is especially suitable for children from around 4 years of age, children and adolescents with chalky teeth (MIH), as well as for anxious and sensitive patients.
